International Presentation of the First Sustainable Base Camp for Mount Everest
SAVE THE DATE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kathmandu, October 4, 2023. This upcoming Saturday, October 7th, will be the international presentation of the first concept of a Sustainable Base Camp for Mount Everest on its Nepali side. This proposal is brought forth by the technology and environmental engineering company, The NeverRest Project, in collaboration with the Government of Nepal through the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
The presentation will occur during the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Mountain Development, which will take place in the Nepali city of Pokhara from October 6th-8th.
The official conference, led by the CEO and founder of The NeverRest Project, Frédéric Kauffmann, will provide an overview of pioneering global solutions aiming to create and establish the first Sustainable Base Camp for Mount Everest.
The Everest region is facing many challenges, including its impact in the context of climate change, the rapid increase in tourism around Mount Everest, human impact on ecosystems, pollution, and proper waste and resource management. By merging science, technology, engineering, and creativity, we propose environmentally-oriented solutions for the Everest Base Camp, compiled on ten projects organized into five work areas. These action categories include planning and design, waste management, energy and water resources, education and awareness, conservation of the natural environment, and collaboration with the local communities.
After the presentation and until the conclusion of the Conference on October 8th, visitors will have the opportunity to explore some project prototypes in an adjoining room.
After the presentation, a press release and photos will be sent.
